Below is a shooter in the sitting position using an M1A, .308 Cal. He is in Preparation Time; a total of 3 minutes to get your ammo ready, get in position, get your sling on, get your Natural Point of Aim (NPA), and dry fire (without ammo) a few shots to be ready for the Rapid Fire at the 200 Yard Line.
All Rapid Fire events are fired with a magazine or clip change. Two in a clip or two in a magazine for the first two rounds, then a clip of eight or a magazine of eight fired consecutively, for a total of ten rounds in 60 seconds. A match rifle may fire five and five for their category (an exception).

The New Scoring System
A new target scoring system is now in use by us. The bright orange, 5" scoring disk for the "Miss" is still at 12 O'clock. The position for the "6" is still at 9 O'clock. The lower left corner will now be the position for the "7". The bottom, at the first third will be the position for the "8". The bottom, at the second third will be the position for the "9". The lower right corner will be the position for the "10". At 3 O'clock, just outside of the 5 ring will be the position of the "5". The "X" will be just next to the "5" as close to the outer edge of the target at 3 O'clock (this position will be the only difficult one, but if there is a white spotter (3") in the very center of the target [the "X" ring] you will be able to tell it is an "X"). Vice versa, if there is no white spotter in the center, then be looking for a black spotter (3") in the outside ("5" ring). This is to be the new acceptable scoring system used by all. It doesn't take a great deal of getting used to, but be more observant when your target comes up and make sure you have the correct score. The challenge rule is still in effect and all challenges lost, will cost you $2.00.
Membership Requirement There is no requirement to be a member in order to compete in our events. Yuma Rifle and Pistol Club (YR&PC) would like all of you, who participate in high power rifle and pistol marksmanship, to become members of our club. Some of the benefits of being a member, are to participate in our practices prior to a match and have the use of our targets. We also provide some coaching by our members who have a wide variety of expertise in highpower shooting, both pistol and rifle. The annual fee is $20.00 for adults and $10.00 for *juniors. (See the application below.)
Affiliations
It would be advantageous and is encouraged for anyone who enjoys our sport to join the *National Rifle Association (NRA), as most of the matches we hold use their rules and we are affiliated with them. Additionally, we send the NRA the scores you shot to the NRA and they keep track of them. Eventually they issue you a qualification based on your scores after a certain number of matches are shot by you. We do not require anyone to be a member of the NRA. We also recommend the *Arizona State Rifle and Pistol Association (ASRPA), which we are also affiliated with. Another affiliated organization to keep in touch with is the *Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), they sponsor CMP matches and sell surplus firearms, ammo, and equipment. All of these organizations support our sport, to include the right to use and bear arms. Mutually, we need them and they need us.
Volunteers
We are always in need of both volunteers for maintenance of the targets and the range itself. We usually go out to the range on the day before (usually a Saturday) and put up and repair targets; police up the range, as others use the range during the week, we also clear brush and level the firing lines and roads, etc. Most importantly, we get to practice after our usual tasks are completed.
Please use our new Membership Application, it is on the "Application Form" page, if you are interested in becoming a member.
For additional information contact Joe Murek at: 928-627-4556 or Jerry Brooker at: 928-305-9681
The club application is on the "Application Form" page in the menu above.
The image above is of four targets up in the air. We can presently put up six targets and are not limited to just six. If we get the participation, we will respond accordingly with additional targets.
